On November 4, 2014, TN voters approved the following constitutional amendment:
Nothing…secures or protects a right to abortion… The people retain the right…to enact, amend, or repeal statutes regarding abortion, including…circumstances of pregnancy resulting from rape or incest or when necessary to save the life of the mother.

Keri Withington started off as a poet, studied fiction, then spent the first decade of her career writing mostly non-fiction. She has now come full-circle and returned to writing poetry, as well as teaching English at Pellissippi State Community College. Her poems have previously appeared in journals such as Blue Fifth Review, Snapdragon Journal, and Love Me, Love My Belly.
